Vidya Poshak, a registered non-profit Citizen Initiative Organization, has been serving the meritorious and financially disadvantaged student community since 2001.  The organization, in last seven years has disbursed over Rs. 4.0 Crore financial aid in terms of fees, text books and training programs to the student community. More than 4000 students have been benefited spread across 21 districts of Karnataka and three districts of Maharshtra.

In spite of securing a degree, it is of great concern to the society that many students remain unemployed due to lack of skills required by the present competitive corporate world that are not provided by the present academic system. Graduate Finishing School at Dharwad” aims to empower students of this kind by bridging the gap between academia and requirements of the present job market. The first batch was initiated during June 2008. As of now we have trained two batches (50 students) and placed all of them. Currenty third batch is undergoing training.

Unique Features:

Our selection, admission and training process are very unique.  Some of these are:

Ø      Only meritorious students below poverty line and from vernacular mediums are admitted in to the program.

Ø      Rigorous training is planned to significantly change students’ lifestyle and thinking

Ø      Only 25 students will be admitted per batch.

Ø      Every day 4 hours classroom sessions followed by the student activity to ensure the learning of the concepts by students taught in the class room.

Ø      Day-long workshops given by industry experts on various corporate related topics will be arranged during the course period

 

Course Schedule and Curriculum

Potential students, who qualify in the initial Assessment Test, personal interview, physical poverty assessment, are allowed to enroll in the training.  The training course is designed for 6 days a week at 10 hours each day spread over three months.

Broadly, the curriculum includes English Language Improvement Program (Both Written as well Spoken English), Basic Computer Training (MS Office, Email & Internet etc.,), Life Skills Work Shops, Analytical Skills and content enrichment.
